Pleasant Camp

The homeowner came to us with a kit home that we customized to fit their specific needs and taste. This project design was a true collaboration between our team and the client, and the result is a camp retreat that the client can enjoy for years to come.

Customized Kit

Although the home is built from a kit from Real Log Homes, we added several custom touches. We added and enlarged windows in the living room and master bedroom to take advantage of the beautiful view. We also worked with the client to design a kitchen and bathrooms that exactly suited their needs. Once the changes had been finalized, the log home company redrew the plans to provide a consistent set of plans for our builders.

Cozy Details

Log walls tend to absorb light, so we opted to utilize sheetrock for some of the walls in this home to brighten up the space. We added custom stonework for the woodstove setting, as well as created a stone hearth with a mantle. The antler chandelier provides a rustic and nostalgic touch for the camp.

Camp Kitchen

For the kitchen, we chose a unique black pearl granite in a super matte leathered finish. We also kept a generous overhang on the island to provide comfortable seating in the kitchen for meals. Although the cabinets are not custom, the ultra-high backsplash gives the kitchen a luxe, custom feel.

Design with Personality

The homeowner wanted to ensure that the log home still had plenty of personality. We extended the vaulted ceilings with Douglas Fir beams, standard in the main living areas, to the master bedroom. We also used a mix of paint and stained materials to give a pop of color while also providing a color palette for furniture and textile choices. The guest bedroom features handmade, whimsical green beds from Maine Woodworks.
